Family sharing

What connected family members can see and how student privacy works.

Joining and choosing are separate

Connect only with people you know and trust. An invitation and control of an email address do not prove someone is your parent or verify the relationship. Connected members can see basic first names and family membership. Your three optional sharing choices start off, including for existing accounts. A parent cannot turn them on for you.

Progress summary: connected parents only

If you enable the summary, connected parents can see your first name, next paper and subject, its date and countdown, whether your current study pace is on track, weekly subject coverage, and one broad confidence band for each subject: Lower confidence, Building confidence, Higher confidence or Not rated yet. They do not see individual session records, topic names, exact topic ratings or numeric averages. If only one topic has a rating, its subject band may hint at that rating's general range. Other students and siblings cannot see this study summary. The choice shows the connected parent accounts before you enable it.

Family league: scores visible within the family

If you join the league, family members who have access to that league can see your first name, weekly XP, adjusted XP, position and handicap status. This can include siblings who have also opted in, as well as connected parents. Private XP and study history remain available when you leave the league. A handicap agreement is separate from permission to share league information.

Parent encouragement

If you enable kudos, connected parents can send the fixed encouragement choices shown in Pace. There are no free-text family messages. Turn the choice off to stop new encouragement and remove it from your dashboard.

Change your mind or leave

In Family, open Your sharing choices to enable or turn off each purpose separately. Changes apply to future access immediately; information someone has already seen cannot be recalled. Turning sharing off does not remove your private revision tools or history.
When a new member joins, optional sharing choices reset so you can consider the new recipients. You can leave the family without deleting your account: your student profile and study history are kept in a private family and sharing resets. A parent who leaves loses access to the connected students; their study history stays with their own accounts. Account deletion is a separate permanent action.
The age band you declare is retained across withdrawal and leaving. An under-13 declaration cannot be changed to unlock sharing through the same screen; email alec@syntheticceo.com if you made a mistake. We do not ask for your date of birth or ID for this choice.
