How do I find my GCSE or A-level exam board?
Ask your subject teacher or exams officer, or look at the qualification details on your centre’s course information. A textbook cover can be a clue, but it is not enough if a school has changed specification or uses more than one route.
Write down the board, qualification title and specification code. Then add tier, route and optional topics where your course uses them. Keep that short record with your paper dates and revision resources.
Pace’s reviewed England launch catalogue
Pace’s launch catalogue contains reviewed Summer 2027 course presets for England across AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas. The app lets you review its defaults and edit a paper, date, topic or course choice.
A board name on its own is not a promise that every subject and qualification is included. Check the available course during setup. A custom subject can be added when the course you need is outside the preset catalogue, but a custom entry is not a source-verified board preset.
| Board | What to verify |
|---|---|
| AQA | Qualification and specification code, then the correct paper. |
| Pearson Edexcel | GCSE or GCE versus international qualifications; route or option. |
| OCR | Specification A or B where offered, plus the component. |
| Eduqas | The Eduqas qualification rather than a Wales-only WJEC course. |
UK planning guidance and qualification coverage
England is the scope of Pace’s reviewed launch presets. Wales-only WJEC, CCEA and Scottish qualifications are outside that reviewed catalogue. Do not substitute a similarly named England course for your own qualification.
For Wales, check the qualification cohort as new GCSEs are introduced. For Northern Ireland, confirm your board directly with your centre. In Scotland, use the National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher course information relevant to you. General planning advice can still be useful without claiming the same papers or content.
Official board and qualification information
Use these sources to verify dates and identify the correct qualification information. Your centre remains the place to confirm your entry and individual arrangements.
Three setup mistakes worth catching early
First, check separate versus Combined Science. A similar topic name does not make the qualification, papers or workload identical. Second, check a tier or route instead of leaving a plausible default unexamined.
Third, distinguish an official date from your own estimate or mock date. A provisional entry can be useful for planning if it is clearly labelled. It should not quietly become the source you rely on for exam attendance.
Practical answers
Questions before you start
Do all my subjects use the same exam board?
They may use different boards. Confirm each subject individually rather than applying one board to your entire timetable.
Can Pace be used outside England?
The reviewed preset catalogue is for England. Custom entries do not amount to reviewed support for another qualification system; check the current product setup and your own official course details.
Is Pace endorsed by the exam boards?
No endorsement or affiliation is claimed. Board names identify qualifications and official information sources.
